Content Submission Guidelines

What kind of content can I upload?

Before making a submission, please make sure that your content is:

  1. Focused on human rights: Ensure your content is centered around human rights or youth rights. Highlight what human rights challenges your initiative tackles and what impact you are aiming for or have already achieved.
  2. Made by youth and for youth: Showcase advocacy initiatives designed and led by youth organizations, networks, movements or individual young people. Include personal stories of youth who resist and survive in difficult conditions for the cause of human rights.
  3. Educational: Submit valuable information that enhances understanding of human rights, youth rights, or advocacy. Include research, case studies, or guidelines that help build knowledge and skills.
  4. Empowering and motivating: Motivate young people to engage in human rights causes and drive community change. Share tools, tips and best practices.
  5. Inclusive and respectful: Use inclusive language, avoid stereotypes, and promote equality. Discriminatory language or hate speech will not be allowed.
  6. Clear and well-organized: Structure your content logically with headings, short paragraphs, and concise explanations.
  7. Credible and reliable: Ensure all information is fact-checked and from trusted sources (e.g. UN reports, peer-reviewed research). Avoid misinformation.
  8. Youth-tailored: Use language and themes suitable for youth. Avoid jargon and handle sensitive topics carefully.
  9. Consent-based: Obtain consent from all individuals featured in your content. For children, ensure you have consent from parents or legal guardians.

What file formats are supported?

  • Case histories: PDF documents that include text, images, and hyperlinks (if appropriate).
  • Films: Short documentaries in HD, up to 3 minutes, in MP4, AVI, or MOV format.
  • File Size: Upload your film to a cloud storage service (OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.) and share the link.

Factors Affecting AVI File Size:

  • Resolution: Higher resolutions (1080p or 4K) result in larger files.
  • Frame Rate: Higher frame rates increase file size.
  • Codecs: Codec choice impacts compression and file size.
  • Compression: AVI files are generally less compressed than MP4s.

Aspect Ratio

  • Most common: 16:9
  • Standard for HD and widely used on YouTube, TikTok, and live streaming platforms.
  • Offers high resolution and is compatible with most recording devices.

Accessibility

  • For PDFs: Use accessible fonts like Arial, Helvetica, or Calibri at minimum 12 pt size.
  • For films: Include captions or subtitles where possible.

Note: Choose the format that works best for your activity and platform (e.g. social media vs YouTube).

You can see the detailed guidelines on filming the videos here.

How will the content be reviewed?

The review process is designed for timely posting.

Once uploaded, your content will be reviewed by the OHCHR and EAA moderation team within 48 hours. If accepted, it will be published on the Advocacy in Action page and you will receive a confirmation email.

Please note this is not an automated process. While we aim to meet review timelines, occasional delays may occur due to workflow congestion.

Mental Health is Our Human Right

Her initiatives have not only made an impact within ASEAN but also resonated with a global audience. The vision of People's Health & Emotional Wellbeing, PHEW!, a registered mental health support group in Malaysia, is to create a space where acceptance is freely given. She hopes to inspire the next generation of leaders and reinforce the ethos of “Mental Health is Our Human Right,” ensuring no voice goes unheard in her community and beyond.
